This year GrassROOTS collaborated with the City of Newark for a two-day turkey giveaway providing 6,000 turkeys, 1000 pumpkins and 2300 organic apples for Newark residents. A total of 50 adult and 18 youth volunteers lend their support to this effort.
Mona Scott-Young remains the reigning champion of the Turkey Challenge; second place goes to a late and great newcomer Yandy Smith-Harris. We are so thankful for support of Faith Evans and Naturi Naughton. Special love to our board members, staff and our Philadelphia supporters. We could not do this community work without you. All donations goes to our #GiveBack efforts for residents of Georgia King Village and families in the Greater Newark community.
