Get Ready for Roots, Rock, Run 5K

Join GrassROOTS Community Foundation on Saturday, October 1st, 9am at Weequachic Park (Meeker Street entrance) for Roots, Rock, Run 5K community walk/run.

Roots, Rock, Run is an interactive, fun, neighborhood-based health promotion event that aims to reclaim impoverished neighborhood spaces for health. The event raises awareness of the importance of physical activity and healthier living, and raises funds to support programs and organizations that make healthier living a priority for impoverished women and girls.

• Hear from Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Black Thought and host Dupre “DoItAll” Kelly of 211 Community Impact and Lord of the Undergrounds.
• Meet special guest U.S. Sprinter Mikele Barber
• Warm with Lisa Charles, Embrace Your Fitness and Newark Hall of Famer, Coach Lisa Morgan
• Jam to live musical performances from Jah People and the soulful voice of LaTrice Verrett.
