Give Thanks For Girls Gala

The purpose of the Give Thanks for Girls Benefit Gala honors black girls who have demonstrated through their actions in the community high levels of integrity, academic excellence and ingenuity.
Proceeds from the event goes to supporting the GrassROOTS Community Foundation efforts in developing girl changemakers.
This year’s national honorees are: Marsai Martin of ABC’s Black-ish;, Haile Thomas, The Happy Organization and Mikaila Ulmer, Me and The Bees Lemonade.
The 2017 GIVE THANKS for Girls Benefit Gala is being held at the historic Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, New Jersey. All guests will be provided with complimentary valet and coat check service upon arrival.
7:00-8:30pm – MYX & Mingle VIP Cocktail Reception
Host: Mona Scott-Young, CEO of Monami Entertainment
The reception provides a perfect networking opportunity to mix and mingle with entertainment industry professionals, government officials, GCF supporters and other influencers. Confirmed guests include Mayor Ras J. Baraka of Newark and Michellene Davis, Vice President of Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer RWJBarnabas.

9:00-11:00pm – Dinner and Award Presentation Ceremony
During your 4-course seated dinner and cocktails, guests will enjoy the beautiful sounds of by the Enoch Smith Jr. Band as well as an African drum and dance performance and presentation by our GrassROOTS SuperGirls. Following the award presentations, DJ Scotty Nevers will keep us on the dance floor all night.
